7/2/2020 *PLEASE NOTE: Bid date has been change from 7/9/2020 to 7/16/2020 3:00 PM CST *Bids must be submitted electronically! Project location is Maquoketa Caves State Park, 9688 Caves Rd., Maquoketa, IA 52060. The elevated walkway system at Maquoketa Caves State Park has sections that are structurally unsound. One section deemed as high priority for replacement is located at the middle dance hall cave. IDNR has developed a means to replace this section of 32 steps and 1 landing in the same footprint. Materials have been manufactured specifically for this project and must be installed on site. Removal of the existing stair system shall be accomplished by deconstruction of each part of the structure. The old metal sub frame of these stairs is comprised of 3” channel iron which has been custom fit to each step and welded together. Each step is supported by multiple rebar supports which have been driven down to and into bedrock. These metal sub frames will need to be removed without causing extensive damage to the rebar supports. Project Contact: Ryland Richards (563) 659-7269
